Arlington Interior/Exterior Whole House Remodel

LINEA Design Build Remodel designed and executed every aspect of this thorough indoor and outdoor transformation of a client's home in South Arlington, VA.  The work included: new James Hardie plank siding, a new, custom permeable paver driveway (with stabilizing concrete borders) and walkways, an all new interior including an entirely new master bath with free-standing tub, separate walk-in shower and double vanity, two renovated hall baths, a new Art Deco jewel-box of a powder room featuring red glass tile from California and a wallpapered ceiling, a large, expanded kitchen with custom blue cabinets and an 11-foot island, a completely re-invented fireplace and hearth, family room and dining area, removal of 2 load-bearing walls, a completely remodeled basement with bar, guest bedroom and bathroom suite, a dramatic and highly functional new lighting plan inside and out, an extensive, well-engineered and effective storm drain system encircling the entire house, a new floating porcelain-tiled back patio with a sun- and neighbor-shielding pergola, a simplified, elegant new facade and drought-friendly, easy-care landscaping all around.

Mt. Pleasant DC Row Home Remodel

LINEA Design Build Remodel won this job over several other design/build firms with an innovative design that moved the powder room to the other side of the house, freeing up just enough space to allow two passageways into the kitchen, a design feature that was very important to this young family with 3 kids, 2 dogs, and lots of traffic!  LINEA performed a major remodel of this property, including replacement of the flooring throughout the house with authentic heart pine.

Crystal City High-Rise Bathroom Remodel

LINEA Design Build Remodel designed and built out a full luxury condo renovation for the Chief Technology Officer of the U.S. Air Force in Crystal City, overlooking Reagan National Airport.  The job included stripping away glue-down wood flooring and refinishing the concrete floors with black stain.  The bathrooms were all done with white Carrara Italian marble.

Old Town Alexandria Master Bath

LINEA Design Build Remodel has been working on a series of projects for the owner of this historical home in Old Town Alexandria over the last several years that will ultimately result in the entire home being remodeled.  This room required the demolition and structural rearrangement and reconstruction of an entire section of the home containing the master bath.  LINEA Design Build Remodel is Class A licensed as both a building contractor and as a remodeling contractor; we have the expertise to evaluate and execute any renovation or reconstruction job, and we have a long history of working on historical properties in Old Town, Georgetown, and on Capitol Hill.  At LINEA we understand the need to gracefully and respectfully integrate the old and new in any historical renovation work, and we are used to working hand in hand with the historical dwelling oversight committees of local jurisdictions. 

The Watergate Penthouse Full Renovation

At LINEA Design Build Remodel we're experts at dealing with complex remodels, and entirely renovating this top floor Watergate co-op, complete with layout changes and a new fireplace and flue to the roof, is right up our alley.  This gut and reconstruction involved asbestos removal and remediation, re-engineering and replacing the entire fireplace system, and special sound insulation to allow for porcelain plank flooring throughout the unit.  The result, complete with gorgeous mint cabinetry, is top drawer.  LINEA Design Build Remodel delivers luxury DC living at its best.

Capitol Hill Entryway

LINEA Design Build Remodel coordinated with DC designer Antoinette Ricafort to design and deliver this adorable and inviting new entryway for the owner of a classic Capitol Hill townhouse.  The client is a prominent fundraiser for one of our two leading political parties... to find out which one check the iconic silver animal inlays in the corners of the marble mosaic floor tile, an added touch of humour offered by LINEA to inject some levity into our Washington, DC, contentions and wholeheartedly endorsed and appreciated by our client.

Rosslyn High-Rise Condo Total Remodel

Glass Tile Waterfall Bath

LINEA Design Build Remodel was given a set of design parameters by our clients to create a single, dual entry bathroom in this unusual, L-shaped space.  The result is a unique his-and-hers vanity pair with a separate lady's make-up and dressing station, plus a shareable shower defined by a central waterfall of glass tile, plus the ability, via a full complement of premium plumbing fixtures, to create a true waterfall of water, as well.

LINEA Design Build Remodel removed a wall enclosing the kitchen and thoroughly remodeled the space to create this beautiful, open living environment.  The dark builder-grade floors were replaced with 3 1/4" natural-finish oak planks throughout the first floor of the home.  Premium custom cabinetry and natural White Macaubas quartzite pair to create an adaptable, inviting palette, punctuated with splashes of color.

Clarendon Whole House Remodel - Baths

LINEA Design Build Remodel has worked with this client in 2 homes over 25 years on 5 projects.  Our record is 3 homes and 5 projects for a single client over 35 years, so this client still has another house and decade to go to set the record.  LINEA remodeled the entire upstairs of this Arlington colonial in 2024, comfortably adding a full, en-suite bathroom for the clients' soon-to-be-teenage daughter within the home's existing space (see pic of lilac-tiled bathroom).

LINEA Design Build Remodel tore out all the glued-down, oak plank floors throughout this Crystal City condo, prepped the concrete slab (not easy), stained it black, then polished it to a high sheen to yield a glam-floor that simply defines this executive pad overlooking National Airport. LINEA Design Build Remodel remodeled this Boeing aerospace executive's townhouse kitchen on the water at Ford's Landing in Old Town Alexandria.  Rich blue and chocolate hues enhanced by miraculous Vermont Danby marble and highlighted by  textural mosaic tile backsplashes set the tone for this space,

Pre-War in New York City means a home built before WW2.  In Old Town Alexandria, Pre-War means before the Civil War, and that's exactly what LINEA Design Build Remodel was called in to address in this circa 1850 property.  This guest bathroom may not appear large by modern construction standards, but it's now a critical five inches wider than it was, allowing for a comfortable shower, trimmed in basalt tile, and a good-sized room space adorned with matching volcanic basalt floor tile.  LINEA Design Build Remodel completely reconstructed the sagging floor and reconfigured the plumbing to achieve this fine result.  The horizontal bas-relief wall treatment (constructed from waterproof PVC panels) hints at the naval history of the home on the banks of the Potomac River.

We built this over 30 years ago!

LINEA Design Build Remodel owner Jim Gardiner designed and built this kitchen, mud room and powder room addition off Beulah Road in Vienna, VA, in 1995 for the growing family of his clients. These are the original pictures taken when it was completed.  The children who grew up in this lovely family space now have children of their own, with the newly minted grandparents enjoying another generation making memories in their home.  At LINEA Design Build Remodel we take our role very seriously and very much appreciate partnering with our clients to enhance not just their homes, but also their lives.

Deft design touches such as the breakfront vanity, checkerboard mosaic marble wainscot accent, basketweave marble floor and pure white ceramic tile with profiled reliefs unite to provide a clean, enduring sophistication that provides maximum return on the remodeling investment.
